   Zwei von Aamirs Filmen wurden/werden tatsächlich auch per Blog beworben. Zu Mangal Pandey gab es ein Aamir-Blog (mit relativ wenig Aamir …) und auch für Rang de Basanti kommt man über die Website auf MSN Spaces der einzelnen Schauspieler. Allerdings hat Aamir da auch noch nichts geschrieben. Einige der anderen haben aber Kommentare abgegeben.

   Indian government spent Rs. 40 crores on Bollywood stars for an eleven-minute performance!
   It was shocking that the Indian government spent Rs. 40 crores on the Bollywood stars for an eleven-minute show at the recently concluded Commonwealth games in Melbourne. If the government had spent even a fraction of that amount on the athletes who participated in the event then we would have had some more medals in our Kitty. It is really shameful that the government gives step motherly treatment to the sports and sportsmen and spends crores on Bollywood actors that has no connection with sports world at all.

   I have seen our national hockey players bathing in a railway yard and being stashed in a second-class railway compartment when they were traveling for a hockey tournament. The sportspersons participating in Olympics and Common wealth games are paid peanuts and the sport facilities are pathetic. Even the medal winners at the Commonwealth games will not receive even one percent of what Bollywood stars like Priyanka Chopra and Lara Dutt got (one crore each) for simply waving to the crowds. And the so-called face of Indian cinema Aishwarya Rai’s fake patriotism was exposed when she boasted of performing at the ceremony just for patriotic reasons. And what was the cost of this patriotism – a cool Rs.3 Crore. Bollywood actors do not even represent India but the sportspersons do and they are the ones who are more eligible for receiving large amount and not some dumb actresses like Aishwarya Rai, whose only qualification is her good face. Now there is every reason to believe that Aishwarya Rai might also be charging hefty fees for indulging in other social causes.

   Can’t our Bollywood stars perform free of charge for India even for eleven minutes? The government would have definitely spent on their stay and travel expenses and it was not even the case where the Bollywood stars had to incur a loss by rejecting a movie offer for performing at the event. The Government should get their priorities right and instead of wasting money on Bollywood stars they should spend money on improving the sports infrastructure, the training facilities for sportspersons and increasing their fees.

   The organizer of the event, Mr. Viraf Sarkar of Wizcraft says that Bollywood stars were showcasing our country. He should know that Bollywood is not India. And if he wanted to showcase our country then he should have had people from different fields and not just from Bollywood. And if the government is thinking that they can attract spectators by displaying Bollywood actors in the ceremony then they are seriously undermining the sports lovers in India. A sport lover would always go for Commonwealth games whether Bollywood endorses it or not. There is nothing wrong if Bollywood actors are used for publicity but there could be no justification for spending 40 crores on them when the sportspersons are being poorly paid and leading a pathetic life.

   Such poor sports administration has been the bane for our sports culture for decades. I hope that the Indian government and the sports minister look into the matter and ensure that this kind of money wastage does not recur. It is high time that the politicians and officials are thrown out from sports bodies and are replaced by retired, outstanding sportspersons and able administrators who know something about sports. Why have politicians like Suresh Kalmadi at the helm when he has done nothing good for the sports all these years?

   Finally, Bollywood stars like Aishwarya Rai, Rani Mukherjee, Saif Ali Khan, etc should stop talking about patriotism and their love for India when all they do is sell their soul and patriotism for money. They are nothing but mercenaries and the sports administrators are nothing but idiots.

   Finished with those gaudy and strange movies in India named the masala films (1) ,New Indian cinema lightens the world with its beautiful stars and show-business and even locally Moroccan bollyphiles are continuously becoming more Hindi fans than ever, writes ALLAL EL ALAOUI .

   Arrived at the Golden hotel which faces a rising millinum town of Morocco called Salé (2) , Bina Paul a south Indian woman of Kerala, which is a magical place in Asia said to me why Salé film festival has not chosen an Indian film for competition this year 2006. Bina Paul is an artistic director and member of Kerala International film festival in the south of india . She came to Salé to become a member of jury of the international women film festival .

   Salé was famous of her cinema theatres such as Collisé, El Malaki and opera . Although some of them were used as cinéclubs in the seventies especially the Opera theatre for cultural reasons and also for the promotion of cinema and cinemagoers ,animated by Nour Eddine Sail himself (3) , other cinemas just could not resist to project Indian movies just like Dosti and Mother India By Mahoob . Just after independence named proudly, the goden age,Hindi films were dubbed into Moroccan slang(Arabic) by local pioneer artists namely Ibrahim Essaih (4) , Hamidoo ; Said Bachir and others.

   Ibrahim Essaih was right to dubb indian movies that time, because the
   majority of the Moroccans were analphabets . Local Rabat intellectuals keep
   making pressure on Moroccan governement to increase the budget for cultural purpuses.Yet,movies were nationally done in a shy manner, 2 films per year until the recent fund policy,which CCM, the national center of cinema has made ;14 to 30 fims per year.

   Hindi cinema has been a major point of reference for Indian culture in this century. It has shaped and expressed the changing scenarios of modern India to an extent that no preceding art form could ever achieve. Hindi cinema has influenced the way in which people perceive various aspects of their own lives. With one mighty leap, Bollywood has gone from melodrama to youthful reality, reports Kevin Maher,The Times journalist In England.It is true that filmmakers in India have been plagiaristic to the extent that even Hollywood would remake Munnabhai MBBS and becomes Gangsta MD ;an American movie by Chris Tucker. The seven Samurai by Akira kurasawa became Sholay in 1975 by Bollywood legend Ramesh Sippy .

   Thanks to Ismail Noormohamed Abdul-Rehman , known as Ismail Merchant, indian cinema becomes worldwild and because of his great talent as a producer and director , every good actor in the west would love to work with him . This man sells dreams of elegance and beauty, of dignity and propriety, of literate splendour and intellectual stature and above all, of traditional reverence and venerable taste,Lubna aziz writes on Al Ahram weekly.This seems contrary to the thoughts of Moulay Driss Jaiidi ,a local cinema critic who states that Hindi movies have bad taste on Moroccan cinemagoers .

   Unlike CIFF , Cairo International film festival and carthage film festival , FIFM,the International film festival in Marrakesh, focuses only on European and American cinema and badly to Asiatic films , It is time that Grand Maghreb mainly Morocco, because of its arising bollyphiles who watch nearly 80 new indian films per year out of 350 imported films , confirmed to me by Kamal Mghazli, an employee of CCM, Moroccan national center of cinema based in Rabat spearheaded by Nour eddine Sail. India now is one of the largest film producing nations in the world, with 1,013 films in 2001 and some 4.5 billion rupees in revenues in 2000 through exports, films are subject to various taxes (entertainment tax, new taxation release tax, show tax and property tax).
   Interviewed with a house of film distribution , Amal films, a distributing house based in casablanca has stated that although the prevailing of CDs and DVDs , Bollywood cinema remains poweful in consuming and still welcomed in Morocco and especially now television holding SNRT and 2M are interested to diffuse films such as DEVDAS , LAGAAN and VEER-ZAARA highly praised by international critics around the world. I don’t know what Moulay Driss Jaiidi says about recent statistics of Bollywood Box office made by CCM that in 2003 Morocco imported 378 Hindi films , the number of fans were 3 783602 and ticket revenues were 36101026. Although CCM confirms that these stastics are not fully complete , but in 2006 up to june we had 264 Hindi films and ticket revenues were 581800.

   Moulay Dris Jaiidi would love to see these numbers increasing in other cinema importations just like US hollywood and french cinema , but at least we could be honest and realistic to the Moroccan Bollyphiles.

   Sometimes ships don’t head for the direction it wants , even in America and very often, Oscar nominees and winners are selected on the basis of considerations other than strictly artistic merit. This means, good cinema suffers, writes Gataman Bhaskaran. Prabably we won’t see any Hindu film being selected on competition this year in Marrakech 2006 just because there are still some constipated mentalities that favor American and Eureopean films than any good indian films . FIFM, bureau de la fondation (5) should think this matter seriously about Bollywood cinema because apparently the cinemagoers and producers already think of Morocco as a magical place to shoot future films instead of making them in Swisland .This European country makes heavy taxes on commecials films favored by the legendary producer Mukesh Bhatt (6) . Besides, Morocco is still open to all Indian producers to work by showing easy policy to show-business .CCM has now two recorded clips ,one is NAACH produced by Varma corporation limited,shot around Tangiers, Marrakesh,Agadir ,Essaouira and the second is HALKI NEEND/SARU produced by Corner pocket films ,shot in Marrakesh ans Essaouira .

   Quentin taratino and Micheal moore , famous and respected filmmakers in America ,encourage to pirate their films, unlike Amitabh Bachchan, a mega-star and ambassador of IIFA ; international indian film academy , disagrees about hacking films and resumes that this matter becomes a major problem and it is difficult to solve . thanks to Free market and Internet, cinephiles now enjoy to have millions of good films with good quality at home including the Indian ones.However, CCM locally keeps an eye on outlaw CD and DVD dealers Derb Rallef (7) in casablanca and swika (8) in Rabat ,and recently CCM Have ceised 400,000 CDS and DVDS containing all new hacked genres of International cinema including Bollywood films. CCM intends to fight against films hackers and hopefully cinema theatres will be open again.

   Salé itself suffers a lot of cinema theatres being closed including Dawliz complexes (9) owned by a Moroccan filmmaker,Souhail Ben Barka. Now, in Salé there is only one cinema open , found in a popular ghetto called EL WAD (10) . This cinema theatre is called Hollywwod and ironically accepts only bollywood movies.

   Salé women festival was unlucky this year to have an indian film in competition but it could have thought only one of those three womenish films that deal with ‘ modern feminism’ in India traditions namely Mohra 1994, Mother India, made in 1957 by Mehboob and Mirch Masala, made in 1989 by Ketan Mehta. Unlike Amitath Bachan who works on commercial films Jaya Bachchan, his wife ,participates only in serious films ; starring in Satyajit Ray’s Mahanagar (The Big City 1963), who is influenced by Neo-realism cinema « Pather Panchali » .This type of cinema is called art films in India which is more stylish treating human conditions, and is similar to the cinema d’auteur in Europe. No doubt that Nair Mair a filmmaker installed in America , famous of her , « Salaam Mumbay » and now with her latest film « Namesake » wakes up America and Europe to recognize the potential of Indian cinema.

   Indian Cinema has always been loved by Moroccan cinemagoers and bollyphiles and even since its early start with legendary Dhundiraj Govind Phalke (1870 – 1944) affectionately called Dadasaheb Phalke is considered as the ‘father of Indian Cinema’. Central in Phalke’s career as a filmmaker was his fervent belief in the nationalistic philosophy of swadeshi, which advocated that Indians should take charge of their own economy in the perspective of future Independence.This was confirmed to me by the most respected filmmaker Yash Shopra who was in Marrakech in 2005 with his wife, Pamela Chopra . Going around Marrakeshi souks and suburbs especially the Jamaa el Fna (11) square, Yash shopra said how amazed and astonished he was by the Moroccan people and its traditions that really has great affinity with the ones in India. Both India and Pakistan Should be grateful for the symbolic union that gathers these two countries through VEERZAARA By Yash Shopra.It is an outstanding drama which tries to break the barriers separating two lovers, Veer Patra Sing (Shahrukh kan) and a Pakistani woman , Zarra Hayaat Khan (Preity Zinta). When he projected his film at Berlin film festival, Yash Shopra was scared that the people would not understand the story , However ,at the end of the film, he saw people crying. The presence of Aishwarya Rai in Marrakesh , a former Miss World and Bollywood’s first genuine cross-over icon, , lightened Marrakech with her beauty and let all Marrakeshi young men eyes wild open. These artists are well honored by the Moroccan people and FIFM,the international film festival in Marrakesh. Morrocco now became known in Mumbay and the majority of Bollywood stars would love to come to this country.

   Not far from Agadir, Las Palmas , a spanish litttle island, is overcrowded with indians and enjoyed the double culture there. Indians have immigrated to every corner of the globe with contingencies in South Africa, the Gulf countries, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, US, Canada apart from the UK. Wherever the Indians go, their films and their food go with them. With curry and chutney now international favourite foods, it was inevitable that their exotic films, their melodies, the romantic strains of their sitar, the striking beauty of their leading ladies and the dark and daring magnetism of their dashing heroes would eventually reach the hearts of the West despite all of Rudyard Kipling’s poetic protests, reports Lubna Abdel Aziz, from Cairo Al Ahram weekly . Of course, he did not know then the strength and might of the Seventh Art, which proved to be the best meeting ground for East, West, North and South.

By the way, the Arab world is also fascinated by this genre of Cinema .Whenever you go, Bollywood movies prevail in popular theatres, for example ,Cairo,casablanca and Dubai cinemas are full with bollywood fans, and you can hardly find your ticket. Now resoursefully, people in Mumbay listen carefully to European cinephiles who admire latest of Sanjay Leela Bhansali « BLACK » because simply of its new style without using songs and exotic scenes.

   Ideas like creating an agency that deals only with Bollywood films and Wizcraft artistic communications becomes a wish not only for Razak , Ahmed
   Sijilmassi but also for Abdelillah Al Jawhari and Allal El Alaoui (12) . Those tink-tanks see that it is time to sit down, and dicuss continuous meeetings where film distributers, producers and fimmakers tackle mechanism and the future of Indian cinema.

   Since the The first film in Southern India was made in 1916 by R Nataraja Mudaliar- Keechaka Vadham, the hindu wish to impose their style of making cinema .    Morocco has,alas, missed this year 2006 appointement, but rumours say that 2008 IIFA awards will be one hundred per cent Moroccan . This pushes Yorkshire to swiftly call for IIFA festival to be held in its land.So, Lata Mangeshkar, a Guiness record holder, Mukesh, Mahmood Rafi and Kishore, will sing Godlike lyrics to beautify British souls . Yorkshire lads and birds including five millions Asians would enjoy beautiful movies when they would put the kettle on.

   Yorkshire then hosts IIFA , the international Indian film academy awards , oscar-style and is backed by brillant staff of Yorkshire tourist Board whose chairman is Judith Donovan including members of YTB such as Sir Thomas Ingilby , Colin Brown , Zulfi Karim, Cllr. Carl Les and others .They already mise-en – scene the platform of the seventh edition festival already called – Love at first sight.

   Surely the seventh edition of the IIFA festival will shake cinema lovers and bollyphiles around the globe especially Yorkshire plays the leading cultural link between the fiveth continent. Stratford -upon – even where William shakespeare is born ; a few kilometres from quintessential Yorkshire towns where the festival will be held , Richmond Old theatre eighteen century and the glittering town Leeds ,these local cultual treasures of Yorkshire will be seen and honored.

   Famous personality & Celebrities will invade British Islands mainly Amitah Bachan, Karishma Kapoor, Aamir Khan, Kajol, Madhuri Dixit and Shah Ruhk Khan who reports on himself ‘I have created a myth. Sometimes I think of myself in the third person – I’m ‘the’ Shah Rukh Khan now. He’s a brand of his own. It’s not me any more. Now a myth is created. This is what my films have created. That myth can be called King Khan.’ Yorkshire expects millions and millions of tourists from around the world. The event is expected to boost tourism income across the region by nearly 10 million pounds. The inaugural IIFA awards event was held at London’s Millennium Dome in 2000.    Muqtedar Khan (15) writes that India is already well situated to become a major economic and cultural power worldwide. Indian culture, through the popularity of Indian cinema, is already giving India the kind of “soft power” that only America enjoys worldwide.

   Bina paul will never forget Salé and its traditions . With her digital camera , she took pitures of women tatooing their hands with El Hana, a spiritual herb also used in India for the same purpose.She carefully took notes of those women making their spiritual journeys to Marabouts (16) . This reminds Bina of her people doing the same pilgrimage not of course to Marabouts, but to cinema theatres where they expect good endings of eternel heroes , widows and homeless children.

   Coming out from El Madrassa al Bouanania (17), bina paul amazed by its marvellous Islamic frisks , remembered her colleague filmmaker Adoor Gopalakrishnan from Kerala saying that India has always been an immence bazar of images .

    Unlike CIFF , Cairo International film festival and carthage film festival , FIFM,the International film festival in Marrakesh, focuses only on European and American cinema and badly to Asiatic films , It is time that Grand Maghreb mainly Morocco, because of its arising bollyphiles who watch nearly 80 new indian films per year out of 350 imported films , confirmed to me by Kamal Mghazli, an employee of CCM, Moroccan national center of cinema based in Rabat spearheaded by Nour eddine Sail. India now is one of the largest film producing nations in the world, with 1,013 films in 2001 and some 4.5 billion rupees in revenues in 2000 through exports, films are subject to various taxes (entertainment tax, new taxation release tax, show tax and property tax).
    Interviewed with a house of film distribution , Amal films, a distributing house based in casablanca has stated that although the prevailing of CDs and DVDs , Bollywood cinema remains poweful in consuming and still welcomed in Morocco and especially now television holding SNRT and 2M are interested to diffuse films such as DEVDAS , LAGAAN and VEER-ZAARA highly praised by international critics around the world. I don’t know what Moulay Driss Jaiidi says about recent statistics of Bollywood Box office made by CCM that in 2003 Morocco imported 378 Hindi films , the number of fans were 3 783602 and ticket revenues were 36101026. Although CCM confirms that these stastics are not fully complete , but in 2006 up to june we had 264 Hindi films and ticket revenues were 581800.

    Moulay Dris Jaiidi would love to see these numbers increasing in other cinema importations just like US hollywood and french cinema , but at least we could be honest and realistic to the Moroccan Bollyphiles.

    Sometimes ships don’t head for the direction it wants , even in America and very often, Oscar nominees and winners are selected on the basis of considerations other than strictly artistic merit. This means, good cinema suffers, writes Gataman Bhaskaran. Prabably we won’t see any Hindu film being selected on competition this year in Marrakech 2006 just because there are still some constipated mentalities that favor American and Eureopean films than any good indian films . FIFM, bureau de la fondation (5) should think this matter seriously about Bollywood cinema because apparently the cinemagoers and producers already think of Morocco as a magical place to shoot future films instead of making them in Swisland .This European country makes heavy taxes on commecials films favored by the legendary producer Mukesh Bhatt (6) . Besides, Morocco is still open to all Indian producers to work by showing easy policy to show-business .CCM has now two recorded clips ,one is NAACH produced by Varma corporation limited,shot around Tangiers, Marrakesh,Agadir ,Essaouira and the second is HALKI NEEND/SARU produced by Corner pocket films ,shot in Marrakesh ans Essaouira .

    Quentin taratino and Micheal moore , famous and respected filmmakers in America ,encourage to pirate their films, unlike Amitabh Bachchan, a mega-star and ambassador of IIFA ; international indian film academy , disagrees about hacking films and resumes that this matter becomes a major problem and it is difficult to solve . thanks to Free market and Internet, cinephiles now enjoy to have millions of good films with good quality at home including the Indian ones.However, CCM locally keeps an eye on outlaw CD and DVD dealers Derb Rallef (7) in casablanca and swika (8) in Rabat ,and recently CCM Have ceised 400,000 CDS and DVDS containing all new hacked genres of International cinema including Bollywood films. CCM intends to fight against films hackers and hopefully cinema theatres will be open again.

    Salé itself suffers a lot of cinema theatres being closed including Dawliz complexes (9) owned by a Moroccan filmmaker,Souhail Ben Barka. Now, in Salé there is only one cinema open , found in a popular ghetto called EL WAD (10) . This cinema theatre is called Hollywwod and ironically accepts only bollywood movies.

    Salé women festival was unlucky this year to have an indian film in competition but it could have thought only one of those three womenish films that deal with ‘ modern feminism’ in India traditions namely Mohra 1994, Mother India, made in 1957 by Mehboob and Mirch Masala, made in 1989 by Ketan Mehta. Unlike Amitath Bachan who works on commercial films Jaya Bachchan, his wife ,participates only in serious films ; starring in Satyajit Ray’s Mahanagar (The Big City 1963), who is influenced by Neo-realism cinema « Pather Panchali » .This type of cinema is called art films in India which is more stylish treating human conditions, and is similar to the cinema d’auteur in Europe. No doubt that Nair Mair a filmmaker installed in America , famous of her , « Salaam Mumbay » and now with her latest film « Namesake » wakes up America and Europe to recognize the potential of Indian cinema.

    Indian Cinema has always been loved by Moroccan cinemagoers and bollyphiles and even since its early start with legendary Dhundiraj Govind Phalke (1870 – 1944) affectionately called Dadasaheb Phalke is considered as the ‘father of Indian Cinema’. Central in Phalke’s career as a filmmaker was his fervent belief in the nationalistic philosophy of swadeshi, which advocated that Indians should take charge of their own economy in the perspective of future Independence.This was confirmed to me by the most respected filmmaker Yash Shopra who was in Marrakech in 2005 with his wife, Pamela Chopra . Going around Marrakeshi souks and suburbs especially the Jamaa el Fna (11) square, Yash shopra said how amazed and astonished he was by the Moroccan people and its traditions that really has great affinity with the ones in India. Both India and Pakistan Should be grateful for the symbolic union that gathers these two countries through VEERZAARA By Yash Shopra.It is an outstanding drama which tries to break the barriers separating two lovers, Veer Patra Sing (Shahrukh kan) and a Pakistani woman , Zarra Hayaat Khan (Preity Zinta). When he projected his film at Berlin film festival, Yash Shopra was scared that the people would not understand the story , However ,at the end of the film, he saw people crying. The presence of Aishwarya Rai in Marrakesh , a former Miss World and Bollywood’s first genuine cross-over icon, , lightened Marrakech with her beauty and let all Marrakeshi young men eyes wild open. These artists are well honored by the Moroccan people and FIFM,the international film festival in Marrakesh. Morrocco now became known in Mumbay and the majority of Bollywood stars would love to come to this country.

    Not far from Agadir, Las Palmas , a spanish litttle island, is overcrowded with indians and enjoyed the double culture there. Indians have immigrated to every corner of the globe with contingencies in South Africa, the Gulf countries, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, US, Canada apart from the UK. Wherever the Indians go, their films and their food go with them. With curry and chutney now international favourite foods, it was inevitable that their exotic films, their melodies, the romantic strains of their sitar, the striking beauty of their leading ladies and the dark and daring magnetism of their dashing heroes would eventually reach the hearts of the West despite all of Rudyard Kipling’s poetic protests, reports Lubna Abdel Aziz, from Cairo Al Ahram weekly . Of course, he did not know then the strength and might of the Seventh Art, which proved to be the best meeting ground for East, West, North and South.

By the way, the Arab world is also fascinated by this genre of Cinema .Whenever you go, Bollywood movies prevail in popular theatres, for example ,Cairo,casablanca and Dubai cinemas are full with bollywood fans, and you can hardly find your ticket. Yorkshire lads and birds including five millions Asians would enjoy beautiful movies when they would put the kettle on.

    Muqtedar Khan (15) writes that India is already well situated to become a major economic and cultural power worldwide. Indian culture, through the popularity of Indian cinema, is already giving India the kind of “soft power” that only America enjoys worldwide.

    Bina paul will never forget Salé and its traditions . With her digital camera , she took pitures of women tatooing their hands with El Hana, a spiritual herb also used in India for the same purpose.She carefully took notes of those women making their spiritual journeys to Marabouts (16) . This reminds Bina of her people doing the same pilgrimage not of course to Marabouts, but to cinema theatres where they expect good endings of eternel heroes , widows and homeless children.

    i completely agree with you except for that aishwarya has “a good face”. personally i don’t think she’s all that good looking. she dances well, but apart from that, and nice hair, she’s got zilch.
    but yes, it is shocking that indian celebrities claim to be performing out of patriotism when they are really filching money only to buy their mercedes, porches, louis vuitton handbags and designer clothes. the sad truth is that indians no matter what is said, don’t have a real appreciation for sports in general. and they are certainly not interested in it’s development. not that there aren’t ardent sports fans in india or people who want to improve the sports situation, but real concern for the development in sports is rare, especially among the indian power-elite – which has come to include [unfortunately] bollywood celebs. first of all, the attitude that many people have toward women in sports must change. also, the attitude that sports is just a hobby and not something to be taken seriously has to change. indians value the arts and education (even in the u.s.) over the appreciation and development of athletics. when i trained for and finished 2 marathons, my parents werre very proud although it took them a long while to get used to the fact that i’m a runner. my aunts and uncles in india however, were confused as to why i run races. they wanted to know if there was some kind of monetary incentive to my running a marathon. it is incredulous to me that such an attitude even exists. but it’s there, much to my dismay. very few people understand that i don’t run for exercise, but for the fun of it, and now (since may 2006) for the first time in my life, for serious competitive goals. among indians everywhere, a major attitude overhaul towards sports in general needs to take place. i know many indian guys who care only about cricket and football (soccer) and couldn’t care less about basketball, hockey (ice or field), volleyball, etc. tennis is used by high school students as an extra-curricular activity which loses any importance once they get into the college of their parents’ choice. running, swimming, cycling, sailing, gymnastics, rowing, are [practically] non-existent in the indian sporting world. many people can’t fathom running a race unless it’s for charity, and there are those who absolutely LOVE football but hate running. football is based on good strategy (knowing when to pass the ball long/short and to whom) a great offense and defence, control, and great conditioning. most of the conditioning exercises are running based. i’m not saying that participating in a sport for a good cause is a bad reason to do it or that a a team sport participant must love the sport of running (though many great athletes find it is the best way to remain conditioned during the off-season); i’m just pointing out that more attention needs to be given to sports in general and that the peoples’ attitudes toward any other sports other than cricket and football need to change. speaking of football, i bet the one reason (other than the fact that there is virtually no funding for sports) indians are never in the world cup is because even the worst team playing in the WC is better conditioned than the indian team.
    the whole attitude thing just bugs me greatly (sorry for being redundant) because i’ve experienced it from my own family and from perfect [indian] strangers (who’ve shot me really dirty looks when they see me in running shorts. really, what do they expect? that i run in pants when it’s 11 Celcius or better? or to stop running altogether? ridiculous.)
    just the other day i was listening to an NPR broadcast about image consciousness and india’s attitude toward emulating celebrities came up. it seems that there is a rise in starvation and bulemic tendencies because they want to emulate bollywood/hollywood celebs. while b’wood celebs were touted in the broadcast as round faced (to which i agree fully), it is hollywood that the upper-middle class and up tend to want to emulate. they start wearing the same fashions, and try talking the same way, etc. when i heard this, i felt that b’wood, while not fully embracing the stick-thin look (because none of them really are stick-thin) of some h’wood celebs, it is b’wood that is actually setting the trend of weaing the western fashions in india first. if no indian celebrity wears a certain western trend i highly doubt that it would be embraced by the non-celebs who can afford to wear it. there are so many a-list h’wood celebrities who are serious about sports (many of them run, ski, sail etc) yet it hasn’t caught on in india. so to say that the more moneyed indians become the more they follow h’wood is wrong. what it really boils down to is the more moneyed indians become they look to see which western trends b’wood is following before embarcing them. it’s not that i don’t see ultra stick-thin (albeit untoned because they have no muscle) indian label whores, i do…many of them are in boston and new york city, but i see A LOT of really fat, untoned young indian women who exude designer excess. same with the guys except the guys go to the gym during the day and become gym rats who exude designer excess at night when they have their overly done-up ultra-stick thin OR fat arm-candy with them at the clubs. anyway enough babbling. this is an issue that i feel very strongly about but don’t know what to do about it except to vent. maybe some astute indian aspiring to become a politician in india will feel the same way we (those of us who are sick and tired of the attitude toward sports in india and the screwed-up priorities of the indian gov’t and the hypocrisy of the celebs) do.

    Unfortunately, this does not describe how great this blog, but an article in Hindustan Times, which deals with blogging and advertising. Allegations have Amitabh Bachchan, Rani Mukherjee and even medienscheue Aamir Khan visited blogs and chats to promote their films. Well, interview chats, or chats, in which fans ask are really nothing new and often very informative – albeit interesting. Furthermore, I do Shahrukh Khan in the blog so far no intentions of authentic Bloggeschreibe pregnency a mega-stars – even if Amitabh we know, a computer enthusiasts.
    In any event, the makers are enthusiastic about the new opportunities, but the larger community behind blogs, so that more people can achieve so than normal websites.

    If Indian directors made “Lord of the Rings”

    Farhan Akhtar:
    Films: Dil Chahta Hain – Don
    Location for this Film: New York, Mumbai and Singapore.
    All wear designer clothes. All drive a Mercedes Benz S class and BMW-1000R, smoke B&H & use ray ban sunglasses (except Boromir, played by SRK, who owns a desi restaurant and is proud of his Paneer Makhanwala). All the hobbits and elves drive a sleek car. Every scene has focus on these cars.
    Saurons men use hi-tech machine guns and revolvers. Gandalf (Arjun Rampal) saves the world by revealing a secret to Aragorn (Hrithik).
    The ring has not disappeared instead its been concealed in silicon implants (most probably Priyanka Chopra).

    Sanjay Leela Bhansali
    Location: Mumbai, Panchgani & Mahabaleshwar
    Films: Devdas, Black & Hum dil de chalke sanam
    The young spoilt drunkard Frodo (SRK), returns to Kolkatta to become a music teacher and ends up in a mujra-joint. Sauron (Big B) is the principle of this school, he wears a secret ring. Frodo meets Nandini (song sequence) and they decide get married within 10 seconds of their first meet. Every Hobbit sings 5 songs which are 10-15 minute long. Frodo is madly in love with Nandini (Ash), Saurons daughter. The man in black, dark lord Sauron curses them and makes them jump in a well. All the Elves and Hobbits start crying after which they sing 4 more songs in the everlasting memory of Frodo & Nandhini. THE END.

    Subhash Ghai :
    Films: Karma, Yaadein, Iqbal
    Gandalfs death is shown as the first scene with emotionally provocative music. After 2 minutes, no one would remember what happened as Frodo (Jackie Shroff) would come to take revenge and fall in love instead. Frodo sings three songs pretending to play the guitar, flute, violin, sitar and accordion. Every group would have a flag and sing their national anthem. Sauron (Amrish Puri) starts bombing the entire location from his personal helicopter. The president of Middle-Earth (Sadashiv Amrapurkar) assures everthing is under control. Gimli the Dwarf (Salman Khan) wears a 7 inch shoe so that he can stand next to Tera (Shilpa Shetty), president’s daughter in a song sequence. Sauron kills Frodos sister. Finally Frodo throws Sauron from a plane in a fit of rage calling him a national traitor.

    Sooraj Barjatya:
    Films: Hum apke hain kaun, Vivah
    The Film is called Hum Aapke Angoothi ke Malik hain. Frodo (Hrithik Roshan) is in love with Gandalfs daughter (Madhuri Dixit), they sing 7-8 songs before their parents decide to get them married sometime in future. Sauron (Anupam Kher) is not a powerful demon but Gandalfs best friend. He wears the most romantic ring which he then gifts it to Frodo. Frodo then uses the same ring as engagement ring for Gandalfs daughter. Legolas the Elf (Saeed Jaffrey) joins the celebrations with his wife (Kiron Kher). All of them sing 10-15 more songs. Sauron dies of cancer and everyone misses him. Frodo finally gets married.

    David Dhawan:
    Films: Swarg, Judwa, Hero no.1
    Frodo(Govinda) and Sam(Chunkey Pandey), are the coolest gangsters, they work for their Boss (Anil Kapoor). Boss sends them on a mission to get the sacred ring the respect of their city which was stolen by Sauron (Gulshan Grover). Sauron keeps on repeating “Bad Man” till the movie ends and Sauron is shot. The spectators have no clue as to what the ring was all about. Legolas hides the ring in a guitar case. Frodos girlfriend Arwen (Sonam) finally finds the ring and gives it to Gandalf (Kader Khan) who secures it for Frodo.

    Ramsay-Brüder:
    Films – All Bollywood B-Horror films
    This film is called Khooni Angoothi. Frodo, Aragorn und Boromir are played by unknown actors. The ghost ring belongs to Sauron (unknown). Sauron is fond of young girls. These damsels are normally seen in the pool or else in the bathroom. The ghost ring hypnotises these victims who fall in love with Sauron. Frodo, Aragorn and Boromir play three rain songs with the actresses. Sauron gets angry and gets rid of Frodo and Aragorn. Boromir finally dumps Sauron in a grave using Shivas weapon.

    Mahesh Bhat:
    Films: Murder, Paap, Gangster
    Tanushree Dutta plays Arwen. Frodo is no one else but Emran Hashmi. Arwen has an affair with Gimli the Dwarf (Rajpal Yadav). Frodo kills Gimli.
    He kisses Arwen every 3 minutes henceforth. All other actors look as if they are on a Heroin-Trip. Arwen finds Gandalf (Anupam Kher) whom she marries without telling Frodo. Frodo is sad and sings some 10 Himesh Reshamiya songs out of which 4 are stage performances by Himesh himself with Frodo. Gandalf dies of age and Arwen comes back to Frodo. Sauron kidnaps Arwen, Arwen says they could marry instead. Sauron presents her the powerful ring which Frodo demands. Arwen kills Frodo and Sauron & Arwen live happily ever after.

    First of all, the reason I noticed that so many good actors are not getting chance in bollywood because of improper guidance. Social Networking is helping a lot for these bollywood strugglers. You can easily join these websites and post videos, pictures and more stuff like this. Social Networking websites are playing a great role for the promotion of the struggling actor for getting a chance in bollywood.
